Hojat al-Islam Sheikh Ahmad Tijan Sila, the representative of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly in Sierra Leone, passed away.

 

Sheikh Ahmad Tijan Sila, Shiite Scholar of Sierra Leone, passed away

Hojat-ul-Islam and Muslims Sheikh Ahmad Tijan Sila, a great Shiite scholar in Sierra Leone and a representative of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly of the in this country, passed away on Thursday, June 24, 2021.


The deceased was one of the preachers of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) school, one of the great Shiites of Africa, and the Imam of the Central Mosque of Freetown, one of the largest mosques in Sierra Leone.


Sheikh Ahmad Tijan Silla was a member of the Sierra Leone Muslims-Christians Interfaith Council and was a senior member of the Sierra Leone United Muslim Council.


It is worth mentioning that in a ceremony on Wednesday, January 29, 2020, by the decree of the Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly, Hojat al-Islam Sheikh Ahmad Tijan Sila was introduced as the official representative of the Assembly in the Republic of Sierra Leone.


The Republic of Sierra Leone is a country in West Africa. The capital and the largest city of the country is Freetown. Sierra Leone has a population of 6 million and its official language is English. About 70% of the people of Sierra Leone are Muslims and 20 to 30% are Christians. The country’s Shiites are estimated at between 600,000 and 1 million.

The Ahl al-Bayt World Assembly  is an international non-governmental organization (INGO) that was established by a group of Shiite elites under the supervision of the great Islamic authority of the Shiites in 1990 to identify, organize, educate and support the followers of Ahl al-Bayt.
