Ayatollah Khosroshahi pioneer in international proximity: Nawab

To commemorate the second anniversary of the demise of Ayatollah Sayed Hadi Khosroshahi, the webinar “Man of Approximation Square” was held on Sunday evening, February 20, 2022, by the Office for Iran Affairs of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought, in cooperation with the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly and similar institutions.

In this webinar, Hojat al-Islam Sayed Abolhassan Nawab, the president of the University of Religions and Islamic Denominations, and a member of the Supreme Council of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly stated, “Ayatollah Sayed Hadi Khosroshahi is a prodigy in contemporary history. He was a real righteous scholar with world fame.”

“Ayatollah Sayed Hadi Khosroshahi was one of the pioneers of proximity at the international level and started his international relations from a young age. I remember before the Revolution, Allameh and great thinker, Ayatollah Vaez Zadeh Khorasani, held the Millennium Conference of Sheikh Tusi in Mashhad in attended by hundreds of great figures from around the world. The late Khosroshahi was one of the active organizers of the summit and managed it well. He took the figures who attended the summit to Qom and other cities and introduced Islamic denominations to them,” he added.

“The late Ayatollah Khosroshahi was a talented writer who could summarize all material well. He had very close relations with all the great scholars of Iran. He was a fellow citizen, student, and close friend of the late Allameh Tabatabai and had a close friendship with that great man. He also once published all the works of Allameh Tabatabai,” stated the member of the Supreme-Council of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly.

“Ayatollah Khosroshahi had close relations with the greatest ulama, led by Imam Khomeini (r.a.), and made many efforts to solve the problems that arose just after the revolution,” said the president of the University of Religions and Islamic Denominations.

“Ayatollah Khosroshahi always tried to transfer the thought of the world’s revolutionaries to the Qom seminary. He was a mature, humble, and great man and was unparalleled in chivalry. He was unparalleled in defending truth and courage,” Nawab clarified.

“Today, to transmit culture between generations, we need great people who can pass on the culture of the previous generation to the next generation. If it were not for Ayatollah Khosroshahi, who would have transmitted the ideas of Hassan Bana, Sayed Qutb, Sayed Jamal al-Din Asadabadi, Mohammad Abdu, and the Islamic Awakening thought belonged to the 150 years ago to Iran and defended and explained them so powerfully?” said the President of University of Religions and Islamic Denominations.

Ayatollah Khosroshahi revived the Urwa Al Wuthqa Magazine of the late Sayed Jamal al-Din Assadabadi and introduced concepts from 150 years ago in our society to the younger generation and tried to spread this thought in Iran,” noted a member of the Supreme Council of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly.

The late Khosroshahi was in charge of the Iranian embassy in different countries for two terms. He was once Iran’s ambassador to the Vatican. During his tenure, he provided many services to the Islamic Revolution’s relations with the Vatican. He was also in charge of Interests Section of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Egypt for one term and did not spare any effort in communicating with Egyptian scholars, thinkers and figures,” said the president of the University of Religions and Islamic Denominations.

“The late Khosrow Shahi was unique in his kind. I had the success to be one of his close friends. When the University of Religions and Islamic Denominations was established, he came to the fore and promoted our scientific circle by playing an active role in the field through scientific cooperation, news exchange, and his active presence in meetings, especially the meeting related to Imam Musa Sadr,” Nawab said.

“Studying his books and actions, we find out how much of his blessed life he spent on science and the spread of a culture of proximity between Islamic denominations. The question arises how can a person make such a lasting scientific impact? In spreading the thoughts of Shiites and Sunnis, he played an active role and made unceasing efforts in this field. He lived and died felicitously,” he said in the end.
