Opposition to Oppression, Justice-Seeking, and Independence: Key Goals of the Islamic Revolution

According to the official information website of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly - On February 9, 2025, a ceremony commemorating the anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution of Iran was held at the AhlulBayt (a.s.) International University, with the presence of Ayatollah Reza Ramezani Gilani, Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly.

Objectives of the Islamic Revolution of Iran

Referring to the prophetic role of Imam Khomeini (r.a.) in guiding individuals toward self-awareness and the realization of justice, Ayatollah Ramezani stated, “Liberation from servitude to anything other than God and restoring sovereignty to the Iranian nation are among the objectives of the Islamic Revolution.”

“The Almighty God has created human beings free, and servitude to anything other than Him is by no means permissible. Therefore, the chains forged by oneself or others must be broken. One must not become a prisoner of carnal desires. The late Imam Khomeini (r.a.), like a great teacher, taught us this principle and called humanity to justice,” he added.

The Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly also emphasized Imam Khomeini’s (r.a.) teachings on fighting colonialism, describing him as a great religious authority. “The Grand Architect of the Revolution always emphasized that not only Muslim countries but all nations and the oppressed of the world must attain independence and freedom, liberating themselves from the shackles of dependency.”

The State of Iran During the Disgraceful Pahlavi Era

Referring to the plundering of Iran’s resources despite its great civilization, culture, power, sovereignty, and political system, and the loss of two-thirds of the country’s territory due to humiliating treaties such as the Treaty of Turkmenchay, he remarked, “During the Pahlavi era, the level of dependence had reached such disgraceful heights that the ambassadors of certain countries managed the affairs of the Shah and stripped the country of its independence and power.”

Pointing to the political, economic, and cultural colonization, as well as the promotion of decadence and moral laxity during the Pahlavi regime, the Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly continued, “They sought to distance the Iranian people from their native culture and impose Western culture upon the country. Under such circumstances, in addition to enforcing capitulation laws and looting Iran’s oil wealth, they also stripped us of our independence.”

In another part of his speech, Ayatollah Ramezani said, “The late Imam Khomeini (r.a.) taught us independence and resistance against oppression. For raising the banner of truth and justice and fulfilling his divine duty, he was exiled to Turkey, Najaf, and France.”

The Awakening of Nations Thanks to the Islamic Revolution

The Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly stated, “The martyrs of the Revolution and the Sacred Defense sacrificed their lives to fulfill their divine duty and preserve Iran’s independence, yet they did not allow even an inch of Islamic Iran to be lost.”

“Islam is the only power standing against the forces of colonialism and global arrogance,” he said. “In the past, the Eastern and Western blocs sought to carve out their share of the world, but today, Islam, through rationality, justice, dignity, honor, and the pursuit of independence, stands in defiance of the arrogant powers.”

The Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly noted, “A great deal of blood has been shed in the pursuit of justice, societal awakening, and the attainment of dignity and grandeur, ensuring the survival of Islam and the Islamic Revolution.”

Referring to Iran’s 17th rank in the global scientific arena, he stated, “Iran has achieved the fourth position in the field of nanotechnology. Therefore, to become the leading power in the region, we must strive for scientific advancement, production, and authority, and adhere to the Supreme Leader’s recommendations in the Second Phase of the Revolution Statement.”
