Shiite hard-working preacher, Myanmar member of General Assembly of AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly passed away

The Friday prayer Imam of Myanmar’s Yangon Shiite Grand Mosque, who worked for many years to promote the teachings of the Quran and Itrat (AhlulBayt), passed away.

Hojat al-Islam Sheikh Mohammad Baqer Mahmoudi Esfahani, the Friday prayer Imam of the Moghol Shiite Grand Mosque in the city of Yangon, passed away.

His ancestors were from Esfahan, he was a native of Myanmar who came to Iran for religious studies and returned to his country after graduating from Al-Mustafa International University.

Upon his return, the late Mahmoudi carried out many religious and propagation activities and worked for many years to promote the teachings of the Quran and Itrat (AhlulBayt) in Southeast Asia.

Among the activities of the deceased, the establishment of the Hojjatieh School in the city of Prum, the Friday Imamate of the Shiites in the city of Yangon, and membership in the General Assembly of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly.

The servicing cleric also worked hard to provide social services, especially to poor and disadvantaged families.

After 25 years of propagation activities in Myanmar, Hojat al-Islam Mahmoudi passed away at the age of 62 in Yangon due to Covid-19.

The Ahl al-Bayt World Assembly  is an international non-governmental organization (INGO) that was established by a group of Shiite elites under the supervision of the great Islamic authority of the Shiites in 1990 to identify, organize, educate and support the followers of Ahl al-Bayt.
