Imam Reza (a.s.) emphasized connection between love, obedience to God: Ayatollah Ramazani

On Thursday, October 7, 2021, in the mourning ceremony of the anniversary of the martyrdom of Imam Reza (a.s.), organized by the hey’at of “Intercessors to the Infallible Imams (a.s.)”, in the shrine of Lady Fatima Okhra (a.s.), the sister of Imam Reza (a.s.) in Rasht, Ayatollah Reza Ramazani said, “Man must present his understanding of the AhlulBayt (a.s.).”

“We should not interpret Islam, rather, we should speak based on the Quran and Itrat (AhlulBayt (a.s.)),” the Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly added, “Unfortunately, some people make comments that have no religious documentation.”

“In the time of Imam Reza (a.s.), one of the common deviations in society was exaggeration in speech. Of course, the Imams always forbade exaggeration and praise,” he said, referring to the common deviations in the era of Imam Reza (a.s.).

“The prevalence of flattery and exaggeration in society is dangerous,” the Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly stated, “Man must distance himself from these vices and seek his correction.”

“Imam Reza (a.s.) emphasized the connection between love and obedience to God,” the Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly added, “Unfortunately, this issue has been diverted today. It is not acceptable for someone to have only the love of the Ahl al-Bayt (AS) but not to do righteous deeds.

“We should learn from the manners and teachings of the AhlulBayt (a.s.),” he stated, “No one can love God but not love the Prophet and the friends of God.”

“Knowledge must be accompanied by love, and both of them must be accompanied by performing the Wajibat (religious obligations),” Ayatollah Ramazani added, “The world is a field of action. No one should say undocumented words.”

“Unfortunately, the distortion has caused the closure of many principles and rulings in our Majalis (religious sessions), and this is a negligence against the AhlulBayt (a.s.)” noted the Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly, criticizing the holding of some sessions, without mentioning Ahkam (Islamic religious rules), the Quran, Zikr, Tafsir, and explanation of divine verses.

“Imam Hussain (a.s.) recited the verses of the Quran frequently on the way from Medina to Mecca, and on the way from Mecca to Karbala,” he continued, “Today, less is said about the recitation of the Quran by Imam Hussain (a.s.) when his holy head was placed on a spear.”

“Throughout history, some people claiming to be religious even considered the Imams infidels!” Ayatollah Ramazani clarified, “The cause of the martyrdom of some infallible Imams (a.s.) was the same thinking of some people.”

“Unfortunately, there are some people who, despite participating in religious ceremonies for about forty years, still do not have a proper understanding of religious, social, etc. principles. While, by spending this amount of time the person could have become a mujtahid,” added the Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly.

“A person who has participated in religious sessions for forty years should have verses and hadiths for every word he says, instead of misinterpreting and saying the wrong thing,” he continued.

“As one progresses in the field of religious education, he realizes that he has not yet understood (and still has much to learn),” Ayatollah Ramazani said, “The scientific and practical life of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) is so extensive and valuable that to understand it, one has to work hard.”

“We need to know more about the Infallible Imams (a.s.) and pay more attention to them in our sessions,” the Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly stated, “In the pilgrimage letter “Ghadiriyeh” by Imam Hadi (a.s.), more than 150 features and characteristics of Imam Ali (a.s.) have been mentioned. Such pilgrimages letters should be taken full advantage of.”

“According to a hadith from Imam Reza (a.s.), there are seven issues that are ridiculous without seven others,” he referred to a valuable hadith from Imam Reza (a.s.).

“These seven issues are 1. Whoever asks for forgiveness with his tongue, but does not regret with his heart, 2. whoever asks God for success but does not try, 3. whoever seeks caution but has no fear, 4. whoever asks God for paradise, but does not endure the hardships of achieving it, 5. whoever remembers God but is not eager to meet him, 6. whoever seeks refuge in God but does not forsake the love of wealth and the love of life, and 7. whoever remembers death but does not prepare himself for it,” added Ayatollah Ramazani, regarding these seven cases.

Also, referring to the three characteristics of a believer, in the opinion of Imam Reza (a.s.), the Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly stated, “These three characteristics are traditions from God, the Prophet, and the Imam.”

“The tradition we must learn from God is to hide secrets,” he said, “The tradition of the Prophet is to be tolerant and gentle with the people, and the tradition of the Imam is to be patient in times of poverty and distress.”
