Stating that Ghadir Islam has two characteristics of Tawhid and justice, the Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly said, “If the Ghadir event had not happened, the infidels and opportunistic hypocrites would have achieved their goals.”

The celebration of Eid al-Ghadir was held on Sunday, July 17, 2022, with the presence of the Secretary-General and the staff of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly in the Assembly’s prayer room in Tehran.

In this ceremony, the Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly said, “According to a hadith of the Prophet (p.b.u.h), he announced Ghadir Eid as the greatest Eid of Muslims.”

Explaining the hardships that the Prophet (p.b.u.h) endured in the way of propagating and promoting Islam, Ayatollah Reza Ramazani said, “As the last messenger of God, Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h) worked hard to guide mankind for 23 years to present the most complete and comprehensive religion in all personal and social spheres to all humanity. In the way of preaching, he suffered many hardships, all because of the culture of the age of Jahiliyyah (The age of ignorance referred to the period and state of affairs in Arabia before the advent of Islam). By studying the history of Jahiliyyah, we realize that the work of the Prophet (p.b.u.h) was a miracle.”

“The Arabs of the Age of Ignorance did not give up their deviant traditions in any way, so that the worst conditions prevailed in that era. The class discrimination and economic inequality were at the peak in the age of ignorance. Some people owned some slaves, and the slaves were under the oppression and torture of the so-called nobles and aristocrats without human rights and freedom. At that time, Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h) and divine Revelation presented the most beautiful words to humanity that are in harmony with their Fitra (human divine nature), also, offered teachings including that there is no difference between a black and white people, and it is the piety which determine the nobility and dignity of a man not his wealth and social status, no one should be a slave to another person, and everyone should be a servant of God, etc. These teachings affected the hearts and souls of people from the lower ranks of society, such as Bilal Habashi and Ammar Yasser. So that they became so strong in terms of faith that they became the confidants of the secrets of the Prophet (p.b.u.h). Therefore, Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h) endured the most difficult conditions in his 23 years of prophethood, and he suffered more than all other prophets,” he added.

“With the passing of 23 years since the prophethood of Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h), the efforts of the prophets should bear fruit. Because all the prophets were sent for justice, Tawhid, security, dignity in true sense of the word, and also the fulfillment of human rights. In his last Hajj pilgrimage (Farewell Hajj), the Prophet (p.b.u.h) ordered those who have gone ahead to return, and those who have not yet arrived, to reach (the place of Ghadir event), so that he could fulfill his last and vital mission,” said the Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly on the Ghadir Khumm event.

“Imam Ali (a.s.) organized the first gathering of Ghadir. Ghadir’s sermon has deep interpretations, and it is necessary to read it several times,” he added, regarding holding the first Ghadir gathering in the Islamic world.

“If the events of Ghadir and Karbala had not happened in the history of Islam, nothing would have remained of religion, there would have been no name of the Prophet (p.b.u.h), and the Quran would have been forgotten. Ghadir provided an accurate and comprehensive interpretation of Islam against the wrong interpretations that the Umayyads and the Abbasids presented on the religion. They advocated a distorted version of Islam in which wealth, power, deception and aristocracy had priority, while in Ghadir Islam, human dignity is focused in the true sense of the word,” Ayatollah Ramazani said on the importance of Ghadir and Karbala events.

“Ghadir Islam has two characteristics of Tawhid and justice,” he added, “If the Ghadir event had not happened, the infidels and opportunistic hypocrites would have achieved their goals. Therefore, God says, “الْيَوْمَ يَئِسَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا مِنْ دِينِكُمْ” (Today the faithless have despaired of your religion) (Quran, Surah: Al-Ma'idah, Verse: 3).”

“Only an infallible person can continue and interpret Islam comprehensively. Also, the scientific and spiritual authority must be continued. Therefore, all Muslims agree on the scientific and spiritual authority of AhlulBayt (a.s.),” emphasized the Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly.

“The successor of the Prophet (p.b.u.h) must have his characteristics. Imam Ali (a.s.) had all the attributes of the Prophet (p.b.u.h), including his knowledge, morals, etc. The position of Imam Ali (a.s.) is so high among the people of the earth and heaven, that during the Ascension of the Prophet, God spoke to the Prophet (p.b.u.h) in the language of Ali (a.s.). Imam Ali (a.s.) is the door of heaven, knowledge, wisdom, as well as the standard and measure of Tawhid and justice. Since Imam Ali (a.s.) is the measure of Tawhid and justice, many people will be rejected,” he continued.

“Ziyarat Jami'ah Kabirah and Ziyarat Ghadiriya have been narrated by Imam Hadi (a.s.). Ziyarat Ghadiriya is one of the most important Ziyarat and more than 150 attributes of Imam Ali (a.s.) are mentioned in it,” Ayatollah Ramazani said on the importance of Ziyarat Ghadiriya.

“If the Ghadir event had not happened, the infidels and hypocrites would have reached their goals, and we would no longer have had a justice-seeking understanding of Islam. Therefore, Ghadir Islam is the continuation of the accurate understanding of justice that the Prophet (p.b.u.h) was looking for. Ghadir Islam leads to Tawhid in the individual sphere, and to justice in the social sphere. Ghadir Islam is responsible, and does not advocate wealth, power, and hypocrisy. Also, it is the criterion for distinguishing between right and wrong, and between poverty and wealth. Therefore, if Islam had not been introduced and followed in the form of Ghadir, today we would have not benefited from the great blessing of the Islamic Revolution,” he said, expressing the importance of Ghadir.

 “Mahdaviat is the continuation of the Ghadir event, and Ghadir is the truth of the Prophet’s mission, which is manifested in the Karbala event. In other words, Karbala is the embodiment and reality of Ghadir. In Ghadir Islam, there is resistance against oppressors and struggle against power, wealth, and hypocrisy, as well as concern for justice and responsibility. In Ghadir Islam, there is jihad and struggle for the realization of Tawhid and justice,” stated the Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly, regarding the relation between the Ghadir event and Mahdaviat and Karbala.

“According to Imam Musa Sadr, today we can introduce Imam Ali (a.s.) with our behavior. Therefore, our behavior should be in accordance with our belief in Ghadir. Behaviors that result from believing in Ghadir are being responsible, serving the needy, seeking justice, and helping others. Therefore, we should not be satisfied with celebrating and meeting with Sadat on Ghadir (a tradition on Ghadir anniversary), but we should revive Ghadir thought, which is the most important duty of Shiites,” he said.

“Iran’s Islamic Revolution originated from Ghadir thought,” Ayatollah Ramazani added, “Imam Khomeini (r.a.) was the flag bearer of Ghadir thought in the contemporary era, who convey this profound understanding to us. According to Imam Khomeini, the Ghadir event happened so that everyone could be effective in their destiny. All men and women must pledge allegiance (to the Velayat) and have a collective presence.”

“If Muslims had had unity and solidarity, they could have had a real role in their destiny and the enemies could not interfere. The reason for the all-round infiltration of the enemies is that we have paved the way for them. Unfortunately, today the Islamic rulers and nations do not understand the importance of unity. If they knew, now their political, cultural and scientific power would be much stronger, and they could confront the oppressors of the world,” he said in the end, emphasizing the necessity of Muslim unity.
